I hear that you’re all better now –

That the infirmity that has long tormented you has met its match

The devil that rents your stomach has found new grounds to hibernate

And you’re anew, all the more.

I hear you’ve found your cure

That the world looks a little different than before

And that you’ve won the world’s good graces

I hear that you’re all better now.

So let’s celebrate,

You take the first bite of the rotten fruit

How sweet does it taste, that you’re all better now?

I’ll meet you at the bus stop, four hours too late

How is it to stand in the rain, that you’re all better now?

And am I ever happy for you

That your contagion has been contained

Your Midas touch idles

If  you truly are all better now

Though I stand coated in dust

My gold begins to corrode

For who if not for me

Are you to be all better now?
